Chemical Stability of MIL-101(Cr) upon Adsorption of SO<sub>2</sub> and NO<sub>2</sub> under Dry and Humid Conditions

A detailed understanding of the chemical stability metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) in water and acidic basic solutions currently exists; however, there has been comparatively little investigation into MOFs presence acid gas species that may be present industrial settings. MIL-101(Cr), a MOF is stable liquid as well solutions, was tested for its upon exposure to gases sulfur dioxide (SO2) nitrogen (NO2). Successive breakthrough experiments both SO2 NO2 show lower adsorption capacity which also observed by N2 physisorption experiments. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirms MIL-101(Cr) after species. In situ infrared suggest not completely reversible causes some structural degradation similar what previously HKUST-1.
